The programme was later expanded with a long-term ambition of 500,000 plants, recognising the importance of coconut cultivation for the long-term sustainability of the industry. As of 2026, 222,844 seedlings have been successfully distributed and planted. Through this initiative, we aim to contribute to Sri Lanka\u2019s efforts of maintaining the status quo as a leading supplier of coconut products to the world and thereby enhance socio-economic development.
